Q: What is the total turnkey cost?

A: Depending on the style (ranch, 1-1/2 story, 2 story) and options (granite counter tops, standing seam metal roof, geothermal heating/cooling system) the average move-in price ranges from $150-$200 per square foot. Other improvements, such as septic or a well, are not factored into those figures.

Q: What kind of exterior maintenance is necessary?

A: On average, your exterior will need a new coat every three to eight years. These estimated duration times can vary depending on how much direct sunlight (U.V. rays) hit the outside walls. Shade, such as wrap around porches, will increase the life of your stain so the amount of attention required can vary depending on your particular conditions.

Q: How long will it take to build?

A: Depending on the size and weather, approximately six to nine months.

Q: Are there any restrictions or limitations when it comes to building a log home?

A: You’ll be happy to know we place no limits on the size or style you desire. In terms of restrictions, naturally we must comply with the same national & local building codes that apply to conventional residential new home construction.

Q: What are the differences between insulated log homes and full log homes?

A: Aside from requiring less maintenance, significant ones to say the least. The biggest difference is our insulated log homes have a greater R-value than a full log with the same wall thickness. And because we use log components on the interior and/or exterior, you still get the rustic charm you’re after.

Q: Do you offer any “green built” options, since log homes involve a lot of trees being cut down?

A: Unlike vinyl siding (which involves the use of chemicals and causes waste) wood is a renewable resource. Better yet, when it comes to our insulated log homes, the use of log component construction on the interior and exterior results in a much lower required tree quantity than full log construction. And remember, our log homes are insulated, which vastly reduces the amount of energy needed to heat and cool the home and is therefore very environmentally friendly.
